Keiko Minami Exhibition: Transparent Forest
16 July 2022 (Sat.) – 23 October 2022 (Sun.)
Greetings
The works of the copper-plate engraver Keiko Minami (1911-2004) are exhibited.
Born in the Meiji era and familiar with painting and literature since girls’ high school time, Minami learned about copper-plate prints through Yozo Hamaguchi after the war. She moved to France in 1953 and continued to work as a copper-plate engraver for about 25 years in Paris and then for 15 years in San Francisco.
Expanding sky, perfectly clear breeze, and brilliance of water.
The quiet and transparent world receives the hearts of the viewers and gives them wings of imagination.
As a special project, Minami’s works selected by the novelist Ms. Yoko Ogawa are exhibited at the basement site.
Please enjoy the works with the eyes of the novelist.
Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Yoko Ogawa, Mr. Shinji Otsuki of Tabata Shoten, Ms. Yuriko Kanai, former editor of Chikumashobo Ltd., and whom it may concern for their kind cooperation in this exhibition.
