Rap, tap-tap.
One might hear small sounds from the scenery when listening to. The sounds are coming from the growing plants, the trail in the forest, and from the gaps of the trees. It looks as if faint sounds are continuously spinning the story of the world of the works.
The works of Keiko Minami (1911-2004) are produced by carving countless delicate lines onto copper plates. Born in Toyama Prefecture, she devoted herself to the creation of paintings and fairy tales since her girls’ high school days. After the World War II, with the encounter with Yozo Hamaguchi, she progressed her way to the copper-plate engraving. The main character of her works are birds and girls, and her works are adopted in the issues of UNICEF, and are highly appreciated worldwide.
At this exhibition, approximately 50 copper-plate engravings of Keiko Minami and about 15 of that of Yozo Hamaguchi are exhibited.
When leaning forward and looking into the world of the works, you may be able to feel the breath of the inhabitants of that world.
