An exhibition of Keiko Minami (1911 – 2004), a copper-plate print artist whose popularity has been quietly increasing in recent years, is being held.
In Minami’s works, there are clouds, boats, and birds which are standing quietly that one might almost miss them. In each painting, there is not even any one shape which is the same, and each one of them is an important element that creates the world of her works. Each small motif is spending eternally in satisfied space.
The cloud floating alone looks like it is dashingly traveling in strange countries, or it looks like staying there still, waiting for something. Freedom and loneliness – the cloud may look different depending on the person. Please appreciate the works by letting your imagination free over the clear sky that spreads out endlessly.
This exhibition consists of approximately 50 pieces of Minami’s works, mainly copper-plate prints, but also lithographs and oil paintings, and approximately 10 pieces of works by Yozo Hamaguchi.
